LAUDATO SI, call to action this Sunday

posted Feb 22, 2017, 6:53 AM by Lindsay O'Hare

Please join us this Sunday, February 26th from 11:30 a.m. – 1: 30 p.m. at St. George Parish ( 415 Piccadilly Ave) as they host an event dedicated  to Pope Francis on the environment or as he calls it himself  “ . . . On the case for our common home.”

“Faced as we are with global environmental deterioration”, Pope Francis calls for a “dialogue with all people about our common home”. Join with experts from academia (Professor Matthew Robinson, Dept of Philosophy, St. Thomas University), the Green Churches Network (Norman Lévesque, Director), our own parish (Michael Billowits, Outcome Consultants Inc) and our local MP & Canada’s Minister of the Environment, Catherine McKenna.

We will work together to understand the Laudato Si call to ecological action and learn how we can take practical action as families, parishes and communities, following the Pope’s lead to safeguard God’s gifts to us all.

In preparation for this event, you can find the full text of Laudato Si online as well as an overview of work underway in the Archdiocese of Ottawa on environmental stewardship, including a  Guide forParishes on Care For God’s Creation.
